In today’s challenging world of tight budgets, compressed schedules, evolving project delivery models, increasing project complexity, and other pressing factors, delivering quality projects is an ever-increasing challenge. Join ACEC-MB as we explore best practices for high quality project delivery.

The course will take place on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at the WSP Group office, 1600 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB. The deadline to register for the course is February 3rd. Check-in and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 am, with the course beginning at 8:00 am.

Topics will include:
• how the initial proposal and contract can affect project quality,
• what impact various project delivery models have on quality,
• tips for effective project management to help improve overall project delivery,
• key aspects of quality management including project documentation, understanding the role of construction observation, and why it is vital to project quality,
• and finally, a look at the impact that having the right, well trained people has on delivering quality.

In addition to these topics, ACEC-MB will host a brief session on emerging trends in the industry that may influence project delivery and quality, presented from the construction contractor’s perspective.

This one-day seminar is sure to equip participants with the knowledge they need to improve the quality of their projects from a variety of perspectives.

This seminar provides an overview of high quality project delivery from all sides, levels, and phases of a project. This course is essential for young professionals, managers, and executives working in the construction, engineering and architectural industries; and for their clients.

About the Speakers

Ben Novak, Design Firm Seminars, will lead the seminar
Ben Novak, P.Eng., MCP, Dip. BA, has had a long consulting career and is a certified FIDIC management trainer. As Senior VP in a large firm, he participated in and led a number of acquisition, integration, and joint venture initiatives and served on boards. He is a former ACEC Chair and is active in the FIDIC Young Professionals Management Training Program. As an accredited peer reviewer for the American Consulting Engineers Council, he has examined the operations of numerous consulting firms.

Carmine Militano, Bockstael Construction, will lead the presentation on emerging trends in the industry
Carmine Militano brings a “360 degree view to the dialogue” with more than 34 years’ experience across the entire design-construct life cycle, including consulting engineering, construction and manufacturing. He began his career with a design-build construction company as a project manager/structural engineer. He subsequently entered the consulting industry where he specialized in multi-disciplinary project management. Today he is the Senior VP of Business Development and Innovation with Bockstael Construction. He is an acknowledged specialist in the practice of project management, strategic business planning and facilitation.

Cost for each participant is as follows:

Employees of ACEC member firms: $345.00 + GST
Employees of non-member Firms: $395.00 + GST
