Large volumes of high-pressure air are required in the ammonia production process. Koch’s original process air system installed in 1997 had become a bottleneck to increased ammonia production. Koch retained SNC-Lavalin in 2012 to study and design a higher capacity replacement system. The new facility was completed and brought on line during the summer of 2017. This air compressor is believed to be the largest single unit currently installed in the province of Manitoba.
